Art is created to inspire ideas — this is Gilles Rainville’s guiding belief and the heart of every piece he makes.

An accomplished artist, illustrator, and teacher, Gilles has spent over 24 years helping students unlock their creative potential through the City of Ottawa, the Glebe Montessori School, Grande-Rivière Secondary School, and the Ottawa School of Art. He began his journey with a degree in Animation and has since devoted himself to mastering a wide range of techniques and artistic disciplines. A true autodidact, Gilles has studied past and contemporary masters through books, YouTube, websites, and, most importantly, through tireless practice and experimentation.

Inspired by realism, surrealism, nature, and history, his work constantly challenges his own abilities in search of new creative possibilities. Each piece is crafted to spark conversation and invite viewers to reflect on the deeper meanings behind his subjects.
